Mary Mecham writes high stakes, high swoon, no spice romantasy and YA fairy tale retellings packed full of villainous and diabolical leads, swoony romances, and nail-biting adventures.
She is a born and raised Texan with a love of theater and books overshadowed only by her passion for disability advocacy. Her favorite food is chips and queso, her favorite color is (you guess it!) pink, and her favorite trope is enemies to lovers.
Mary enjoys karaoke, fire breathing, gymnastics, going to the beach, public speaking, and she lives in Texas with her husband and three children.
When she is not writing, Mary is an active disability advocate and speaker (see below for more info on her disability advocacy work). Her dream is for everyone with a disability to find themselves represented in literature.
Mary Mecham is an active disability advocate with a special interest in individuals with Severe Intellectual Disability and rare diseases. She has been an advocate and speaker since 2013 and is the founder and former Director of Disability Book Week.
Mecham has three children, two of whom have rare diseases and Severe IDD. She is a graduate of Texas Partners in Policymaking and Rare Advocate Learning programs, and received certifications through Sibshops and USU’s disability advocate program.
She regularly volunteers with multiple disability-related organizations. Mary served as the President of the Texas Partners in Policymaking Alumni Association for two years.
